The Parish School of Religion (PSR) meets on Wednesday evenings in the Parish Center Gym from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. for grades 1-8. Classes typically begin on the third Wednesday of September. All children in the parish are invited to attend classes. There is no fee for materials or textbooks. Parents and other parishioners are invited to become a part of our teaching staff. All staff and volunteers must complete Virtus training and complete the annual Code of Conduct. Virtus classes for children are presented twice a year.
Our program is designed to provide a foundation of the Catholic faith and Sacrament preparation.
Sacrament Prep 1 (first grade/multi-aged) | Instruction is based on the Catechist of the Good Shepherd program using a hands on approach in explore an overview of our Catholic Faith. Completion of Sacrament Prep 1 (with regular attendance) is typically required before registering for Sacrament Prep 2.
Sacrament Prep 2 (second grade/multi-aged) | Preparation for First Reconciliation and First Communion is the primary focus of this class. In partnership with parents the sacrament program uses the Dynamic Catholic Blessed Sacrament program and Loyola Press.
Grades 3-6 | Continue to build in learning an foundation of the Catholic faith and further explore each week the Sunday lectionary readings used in Mass. These classes utilize the Weekly Gospel Program from Pflaum.
Confirmation Sacrament Prep 1 (seventh grade) | We are dedicated in sharing our faith with the children of St. Vincent de Paul Parish Family.
